Sun Ray Cafe

After a day of weekend work, it's always good to treat yourself to some brunch goodness to replenish all that energy! Wanted to try Lola's Cafe but it was fully booked, no luck this time :( However, seeing that their coffee beans were from Dutch Colony Co. and I'm so in need of a caffeine boost, we decided to order takeaway!
Me enjoying my flat white! I have to say, barista plays a huge part in making a good cuppa coffee, aside from great beans! Mine came with acidic note that were alittle too much for me to bear.
Outfit: Lace Top from Agneselle
Tweed Peplum Skirt from Topshop
Bag from Longchamp
Accessories: Raybans, Banana Republic, Swarovski & CCSkye
We decided to give Sun Ray Cafe a try, which was a 5min drive away from Lola's! Apparently, it's on the same stretch as The Coffee Daily as well! :)
79 Brighton Crescent
Singapore 559218
Maybe it's my luck, spotted local Fashion Designer working here, Keith Png! :) Too shy to ask for a photo together hee!
Sun Ray Cafe is a pet friendly cafe! The mixture of furniture gives a wooden holiday vibe :) They host Barista Classes too if you're interested!
Our Latte and Mocha!
A must whenever it appears in the menu! Truffle Fries! Apparently, theirs is alittle too bland and soft imo! :(
American Breakfast: A normal breakfast set in any cafe, theirs was only mediocre.
Lamb Shank: Could have been better if they had braised it even longer!
Overall, I would say this cafe is a plus point when they had half the store catered to people who bring along their pets! But if you were looking for a brunch place, I would say it was only mediocre! This wouldn't really be the first choice in my cafe list!
On a side note, it's 12 more days to CNY! Really excited for the much needed short break and catching up with friends and families!

Cheers!

Anthesis - Robertson Quay

Hi there Everyone,

It's been awhile since I last blog. Shall start 2014 by introducing my favourite past-time. Cafe hopping :) Brunch during the weekends is one of my relaxing moments from all the stress at work. Did a little random outfits shoot with my friend a.k.a. photographer! These are just some of the shots! Trying to catch the wavy feel of my maxi skirt and mine, the wind is awesome that morning =D
Outfit: Crop Top from Love Kaisy
Maxi Skirt from TVD
Bag from Zara
Accessories from SF, Tiffany&Co, Mauboussin, Hermes

After done with the 'shoot', we headed our way to seek out this cafe that I happen to come across online! It was listed as one of the 7 cafes that people must try in 2014 =D
86 Robertson Quay
#01-01
Singapore 238245

The boss gave a short introduction to the cafe! Anthesis was barely 5 months old and for being a new player in the market, I will say that they have manage the whole place well! I was introduced to the various desserts and some of them were really tempting! It was a pity our tummies are so full!! Thanks for the warm hospitality! =D
The cafe gives me a warmth feeling as I step in, with metal chairs and wooden tables to give that rustic vibe without losing its elegance. We ordered Truffle Fries, Colossal breakfast with Choice of 3 breads from their bakery and Banana Brioche. Truffle fries has been one of my fave and I'm particular about it. Surprisingly to say, Anthesis's truffle fries is comparable to Symmetry! Yet another score to a new found place for my lovely truffle fries! :) Colossal breakfast was huge! A mixture of ham, bacon, salad, sausage with poached egg, minced beef with a sunny side-up and the 3 breads of choice. Rather huge that we couldn't finish and a need to abstain from beef, I only tried the rest. But overall, we agreed it's worth the price! Banana Brioche  was my main. I always have a 'jelat' feel with desserts-like mains, however this came as a surprise. The generous serving of Fresh Cream, caramelized fruits and toast is so heavenly! Practically the first time ever that I finished the whole plate! Yums! =D

Apparently, my photographer randomly said, Come let's go take a few more shots! I laughed literally but went along with it hee!
After fooling around against the gorgeous backdrop of Robertson Bridge, we headed to Pasarbella Market for my fave coffee! We were quite the coffee lovers so I intro my photographer to Dutch Colony Coffee Co.!
And again, my photographer said You have 2 new props and a nice backdrop that could totally fit into another nice feel shot! And so, we snapped away with our phones again! haha! =D
My score was the bouquet of Lavenders. It smells heavenly!
Ending on with a selfie shot! =D Spot my new RayBans Wayfarers! Always shun from this design cause I don't think it suits me. Thanks for the gift! =)

Cheers!

Drips Bakery Cafe

A Drip of This and a Little of That:

Today's Cafe Haunts is :
Drips Bakery Cafe
82 Tiong Poh Road, #01-05

Decked in AforArcade Romper
Raspberry Tart
Macadamia Tart
Flat White
Mocha
Homemade Focaccia with Ham and Cheese Sandwhich
Overall Verdict: 9/10
Comments: Situated in a cosy quiet corner of Tiong Bahru Estates, this cafe is not new to most of us. The ambience and decorations of the store brings a relaxing vibe to the whole experience. What greets you as you step in is the alluring display of the pastries and cakes, followed by the coffee corner! Love the aroma of coffee everywhere:) We love the tarts, especially the macadamia tart. It's really irresistible and once you start the first bite, you won't want to stop if you are a macadamia nuts lover! =D I'm impressed at the Focaccia Sandwhich as it was all handmade from scratch. The bread is fragrantly baked with loads of herbs and cherry tomatos. It goes so well with ham and cheese; together with the fresh salad that accompanies with it. I'm salivating now as I penned this entry down. The coffee was average, but the food sure cover that up! I would highly recommend people to try them out! You won't regret for sure! :)

Till then,
Felicia

Soho Coffee

Hello everyone!:)

I decided to pen down some of the cafes haunts that I have been to since the past :) To start, it's SOHO Coffee!
SOHO COFFEE
36 Armenian Street

Here's my outfit. Decided to pair up soothing pastel colors and trying out different mixtures of textures and patterns! Paired up Zara's Nautical Stripes Shirt with LoveBonito's White Lace Skirt. Kept the whole outfit simple with black accessories =D

We decided to order a main and dessert, coupled with coffee of course! :)
Hazelnut Chocolate Cake
Big L Breakfast with Honey Baked Ham
Flat White
Mocha
Overall Verdict: 6.5/10
Comments: Coffee were so-so. Usually I enjoyed my coffee without any sugar added. However, the flat white is underextracted, thus I added the sugar to counter the acidity from the under extraction of the coffee beans. The breakfast set was normal; however the tomato could be grilled further with some rosemary and less pepper for my eggs would be great! Hazelnut Choc Cake was a little disappointing as there's no texture from the hazelnut layer as you would taste from other Hazelnut cakes. All in all, the ambience was cosy and small, I could drift myself away in time over there for a read over maybe other drinks! :)

Cheers,
Felicia

Looking at the Bigger Picture.

Suddenly thoughts came to my mind as I read through this girl's blog who just got rather famous in the online shopping world. Her pics depict her having an awesome life with her bf in almost every entry possible. It set me thinking about mine.

Many people have boyfriends who are either just still studying, just graduated, or employed under other companies. They have the luxury of giving time up to spend together with the gf. Working is never easy and its there to haunt you daily, but work is the only thing that supports our living. Facing the fact, without money in today's world, you won't survive.

So back to topic, when you are working, you tend to only handle the stress from workload handed down to you and maybe office politics. But what happens when you choose to carve out your own career path? What if you choose to do businesses and make your own living? What if your boyfriend choose the latter? Carving out his own career instead of being employed? Doing your job, handling your stress from job and just collect paycheck at the end monthly, isn't that good and contended enough in life? Well, some people just think differently :)

So is my boyfriend. Knowing him throughout these 7 years, seeing how things change, from him being a student, graduated, employed and now carving his own career, I'm really so proud of him :) I'm selfish and naive, always comparing my love life with my friends.

But his words set me thinking. Other couples' boyfriends are mostly employed under some company, thus naturally they have more time to spend on family and loved ones. But for mine, he's different. His stress does not come from just his career alone, but he has to think of people who are employed under him. If he stop, who is going to fork out the salary for those employees? They all have their families to support. And with a diversified career path, he has tripled or even more times the normal stress of a company's boss.

With that, I feel ashamed of myself. I was selfish enough to only think about him giving me more time, spending more quality time together as a couple. I never once put my shoes in his and view from the bigger picture. Career aside, I have to think for his employees and their families. He's striving hard with all of them right now, yup we are 2 countries apart and barely could make it through having a full day together once every lets say 2 months or so? How can I ever still complain and just add on to his stress and burden daily?

I have to admit, time between us shorten alot within a year, and I do complain and cry alot over this. But mum once told me this, 'the person you chose is the person you have to accept, be it his flaws or his good points.'  I chose him as my boyfriend, I have to learn to face things together with him. I have learnt to think from the bigger picture, and learn to appreciate his mindset on his career and his employees. Life's tough, but we can all pull through it, with just a pinch of optimism and smile it through.

I love him with no doubt, and I have never regretted once him being my boyfriend from the past till  now, and I know I will never regret it till the day I die :) Time spent between us maybe shorter, but as long as he's doing what he thinks is right, I will be there behind, trying to catch up to his pace.

Ain't writing to show anyone anything, but just I hope to pen it down to remind me this- Always look into the bigger picture.

Till the next time we meet, I'll always miss you.
